Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is one of the most important and most widely used Vitamins. Scurvy is a disease caused by a serious deficiency of Vitamin C.Ascorbic acid is found in nature in many different foods. Citrus fruits are rich in Ascorbic acid. There is also an abundance of Ascorbic acid in plants such as rosehips, which are known to have sixty times more ascorbic acid than any citrus fruit, 2 to 2.5 grams of Ascorbic acid per 100 grams. It can also be found in certain animals. Human beings cannot synthesize their own Ascorbic acid.
